Professor Ian Young

Chairman of the Board

Professor Ian Young has 30 years’ experience in senior University management, having been Vice-Chancellor of both Swinburne University and the Australian National University. He was also Chair of the Group of Eight. He has corporate experience as Chair and Director of several companies. He is also an internationally recognised research scientist in the field of Physical Oceanography. He has extensive international educational experience having conducted high-level reviews of Universities in Australia, Singapore, China, Vietnam and the UK.

Professor Jenny Wang

Shareholder Director

Jenny Wang has extensive experience in higher education, banking, and international publishing before co-founding AEMG Education in 2001. As founder, she led the development of a successful transnational education model for Australian universities, collaborating with over 50 partners worldwide. She is a visionary leader in global higher education, guiding AEMG’s growth across diverse programs, including undergraduate to PhD collaborations, research centres, offshore learning centres, Cloudcampus, and international qualifying programs.

Mr. Ian Watt

President of AIFE and Board Member

Iain Watt has 20 years’ experience in senior leadership roles at three different Australian universities, most recently as DVC International at UTS. He also spent eight years as senior education representative at the Australian Embassy in Beijing. He reads, speaks and types Chinese.

E. Professor Mike Calford

Member of the Board

Emeritus Professor Mike Calford is a highly experienced university leader with over 15 years in senior roles, including Provost at ANU and University of Tasmania, where he secured government funding and increased international students. He previously served as Pro/Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) at the University of Newcastle, overseeing research income and commercial successes. A distinguished neuroscience researcher, Mike has held academic roles at Queensland, Melbourne, ANU, Oxford, UC Irvine, and CUNY, and has led two medical research institutes.

Mr. Rod Lamplugh

Member of the Board

Rod Lamplugh has been an Australian corporate lawyer for almost 40 years. He is also an experienced company director having been a director of both publicly listed and private companies and both international and Australian businesses. He is interested in all aspects of AIFE’s dynamic business with special focus on strategic planning, good governance and compliance.
